Career Video "The making of an Accountant" outreach programme by the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants
Impelled by drastic shortages of professional accountants in the country where only one third of the professional accountants in Botswana are citizens, the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants recently launched a career video in Gaborone and Francistown code named the making of an Accountant. It is hoped that the video would change the mindset of the public and encourage more people to embark on careers as professional accountants.
In yet another endeavour to ensure that the career video reaches the intended audience, the Council of the Institute recently resolved that the video should be distributed free of charge to all Primary Schools, Secondary and Tertiary Educational Institutions in Botswana to be used by Career Guidance Counsellors in their daily jobs of guiding the youth to make the right career choices.
The institute continues to explore ways of marketing our esteemed profession to potential members, our clients and the public at large. We invite all members of the institute, as ambassadors of the accounting profession, to join us in this important endeavour of spreading the good news.
The video is available to all schools and may be obtained by contacting Regina Ramanteba on 3972992 or e-mailing bica@bica.org.bw
