The members of the Institute are hereby invited to attend the Botswana Institute of Accountants IFRS Workshop.

Over the past couple of years, the International Financial Reporting Standards have been changing at an alarming rate. Last year we saw a major change with the release of the IFRS for SMEs. Since the release of the IFRS for SMEs, there has been more than 70 amendments to the Full IFRS. It is clear that the burden for compliance for SMEs with full IFRS would be too much to handle. We should see the migration from full IFRS to IFRS for SMEs gain momentum in the next couple of years. This workshop looks at the Full IFRS on Day 1 and the IFRS for SMEs for Day 2.(see programme outline below). In order to get maximum benefit from the workshop, it is recommended that participants attend the full two days to gain a holistic picture of how the two frameworks would work before making any decisions on migration.

The above workshop will be held over two days on 23 – 24 August 2010 in Gaborone.

This workshop will count towards the members of the Institute CPD at 100%hrs.

The course centers around a typical balance sheet and participants work through the balance sheet applying the IFRS standards to each component of the statement. The workshop is very interactive with case studies where participants can apply the knowledge learned, as opposed to just listening as has been the case with our previous seminars.
