Membership Categories

FELLOW MEMBER - F.C.P.A (Bots)

A member who has been an associate of the Institute continuously for a period of five years or of such other institute or professional body of accountants as the Institute may recognise may apply to be admitted as a fellow member.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER - A.C.PA (Bots)

Any person resident in Botswana who is a member of good standing of an institute or association of accountants, which is a member of the International Accounting Standards Committee or the International federation of Accountants or who has passed such examinations as are approved by the Institute may apply to be an Associate member.

REGISTERED MEMBER - R.B.I.A

Any person who is not eligible for registration as an Associate member shall be eligible to apply to be admitted as a registered member provided he has passed the examinations prescribed by the Council for a registered member (or an equivalent examination) and has had three years of relevant practical experience. For example, a CIMA graduate, ACCA affiliate, member of Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, are admitted under this category.

LICENTIATE MEMBER - L.B.I.A

Any person who is not eligible for registration as an Associate or Registered member, shall be eligible to apply to be admitted as a Licentiate member provided he has passed the examinations prescribed by the Council for a Licentiate member (or an equivalent examination) and has had two years of relevant practical experience. For example, a B.Comm. or BA (Accounting) graduate, Higher National Diploma in Accountancy, AAT, are admitted under this category.
